The Computer Lab is an exciting place for students. There are 26 PC computers so that each student has their own computer to work on. Grades Second through Fourth come to the lab twice a week. First grade come to the lab once a week. First and Second grade use the software, "Learn Typing Quick and Easy" to learn their keyboarding. They also use the internet and several other software programs to enhance their academic skills. Third and Fourth grade use the software, "Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing" to further their keyboarding skills. Third grade have to achieve 18 wpm 2 errors or less to make the chart. Fourth grade have to achieve 20 wpm 2 errors or less to make the chart. It really is exciting to watch the students challenge themselves by beating their own scores! The internet is used a lot in the lab especially for projects and research. Word processing is also used in the lab. They learn how to save their work, correct mistakes, retrieve work, and print. Kindergarteners start coming to the lab in January. All students look forward to coming to the Computer Lab because they learn so many exciting things on the computer!
